Truly Tailored Throwback Thursday

I’ve been spring cleaning and organizing my craft room this week.  You might have heard that Stampin Up! is doing a color revamp that will retire several colors in addition to the In Colors as well as introduce new In Colors, standard colors and bring back some previously retired colors.  Did that confuse you?  It’s a lot to take in.

In order to reduce my confusion, I separated my retiring/retired colors from my current colors.  Today’s throwback is from the retired 2016 In Colors, Delightful Dijon.  I used it as the card base and also some matching ribbon that I had.  This card is my submission for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge, 45.

I went down the middle column with  Metallic, Free, and Stripes.

Truly Tailored tttc045 The DSP is one of the specialty papers from Eastern Palace.  It has gold metallic stripes on a Dapper Denim background. I used a Dapper Denim layer underneath the DSP for added stability for the ribbon. The sentiment, stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White,  is from Truly Tailored.  I die cut that out with the Stitched Shapes framelits and also cut a piece of Dapper Denim with the Layering Squares framelits.  I adhered the DSP base to the card and the layered sentiment on top of that with Dimensionals.

Another ribbon trick, from my upline Kathy Morgan – cut an 8″ piece of ribbon, tie the knot, then cut the circle.  Adhere the open ends behind the DSP layer with glue dots or snail adhesive.  Super easy and it saves on ribbon.

This card would be great for a masculine birthday or Father’s Day.  If you don’t have the retired Delightful Dijon, consider using Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, or Old Olive.

Rooted in Nature Masculine Card for Earth Day

Today’s card uses the soon to be released Nature’s Poem suite which seemed like the perfect nod to Earth Day.  This suite has the Rooted in Nature stamp set,  Nature’s Root Framelit dies, Nature’s Poem DSP and the Leave Trinkets that I used to make this card for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge and Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Here are the challenge boards:

For the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I used everything but Stripes, although the thank you part of the sentiment is inside the card. So I completed the middle and bottom rows and the last column.

Here is the card I created, using the Freshly Made Sketches design as a jumping off point.

Rooted in Nature Masculine Card

The card base is Cajun Craze.  I used a layer of the Nature’s Poem patterned paper on top of that.  The first circle is the tree slice stamped in Soft Suede on another piece from the Nature’s Poem DSP  that I used to create the second circle.  In person, the underlying tree grain pattern shows up a bit more.  I punched that out with a 2 1/2″ circle punch.  The second circle is lifted with Dimensionals so that I was able to add the stamped, die cut leaves under the edge.

I’m thrilled that Mint Macaron is being returned to the Stampin Up! color palette.  It is such a soft, versatile green.  I used Cajun Craze to stamp the leave and Soft Suede to stamp the tree.  Each of these images has a matching die making them so easy to add to a card.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set, inked with Cajun Craze and mounted over a piece of burlap ribbon.  For a final touch, I used one of the Leaves Trinkets from the suite in Copper. Hope you are enjoying nature today.

Update:  I was honored to be selected as a Team Pick for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge!

Paper Pumpkin Alternative CASE

Lulu and DoraI’m still traveling and I can’t wait to get home to my puppies! Ok, so really, they’re 140 pounds of dog, but they’re my babies. I’m sure they miss me too and aren’t sleeping on the bed or being naughty in any way…

Before we hit the road, I wanted to show you an alternate card you can do with the March 2018 Paper Pumpkin – May Good Things Grow.  This was the fifth-anniversary kit and it was filled to overflowing with amazing materials.

I CASE’d a card from TheJollyFatElf.  You can see her original here. I used her inspiration to meet the requirements for the latest Tic Tac Tic Tac Toe ChallengeToe Challenge.

This was the board for challenge 043:

I selected the middle row, mainly because I had half a sheet of 12×12 kraft paper from the holiday catalog with me to play with. I wasn’t quite sure what ‘cas‘ was so I eliminated the row and column that included that entry.  Later I did some research and it means Clean and Simple.  I stuck with my original selection.

Free – Kraft – Stitched.  Thank goodness I packed my Stitched Shapes Framelits.

March Paper Pumpkin tttc043I used Kraft paper as the base for the card and used the piece I cut off to die cut the oval for the sentiment.

The Fresh Fig layer and patterned paper came from the Paper Pumpkin kit. The layer was a card I cut in half and the scalloped paper is the flap from one of the kit envelopes.  The rose paper was also in the kit.  The vintage vibe to this kit was so much fun to work with.  In the next few days, I’ll post the other alternates I made.  But, for now, here is the card for the challenge.

The ribbon and twine I used both came from the kit as well as the little pearl.  I like the simple elegance of this card.  The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso, also included in the kit with the supplied stamp set.

Crafting while traveling.  I think it was a success, but I’m ready to go home and have all of my favorite items at my fingertips – plus I’m just about out of adhesive.
