It’s a double post day since tomorrow I’m on the road.
Have you used sketches to design your cards? These mockups of geometric shapes can be incredibly useful for coming up with a new way to use your existing stash. I found Freshly Made Sketches while researching the abbreviation ‘cas’. Those of you who have crafted with me or spent some time on this blog know that isn’t my usual style. I’m more blingy and over the top. I do appreciate the beauty and challenge of making a clean and simple card. And speaking of challenges – Freshly Made Sketches hosts a weekly challenge and I thought I’d play with them before I pack up my supplies.
Here is the sketch for this week:
And here is the card I made:
I used a card from the Sweet Soiree Memories and More pack to provide the patterned background layer on a base of Whisper White. A die-cut scallop in Sweet Sugarplum provided the base for the stamped image from the soon to be released In Every Season stamp set. Twelve flower images, one for every month of the year!
I stamped the flower with Memento black ink and then colored it in with Stampin’ Blends.
I cut the sentiment from another card pack, Petal Garden. The final nod to the sketch was a bit of Whisper White baker’s twine acting as my horizontal layer. Super easy and elegant with such a great sketch to work from.
