Rococo Roses

Rococo Rose is a beautiful dusty mauve color that goes beautifully with almost every other color in the Stampin’ Up! palette. Not only did SU put it out in ink and paper, but there are a set of Stampin’ Blends in the new Annual Catalog. Working with Blends is a little intimidating at first. I know I wondered “what if I do it wrong.” Well, I can tell you, there is no wrong. Just add layers and blend. That’s what I did to make my own “DSP”.

Making My Own DSP

I started with a blank 8.5 x 11″ piece of Whisper White. Then I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp a flower image all over it. I moved the stamp in every direction and had it fall off the edge of the paper, I filled it in completely. The stamp I used was from the Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin, but use what you have or try the new Free as a Bird set. It has very similar flower images.

Next, I cut the paper into four pieces, each one 5.5 x 4.25″. Then I started coloring. The first piece I did with Rococo Rose and Mint Macaron Blends. This gave me a beautiful piece of designer paper to work with. I easily made two cards with it.

Two Cards – First Card – A Note of Friendship

I used Rococo Rose paper as my card bases. Then I trimmed my custom paper. I cut the long side first so that I could use the strip to decorate the inside of my card. Coloring was hard work and I didn’t want to waste a quarter-inch.

Using the Free as a Bird Bundle that comes with the stamp set and the nested dies in the 2019 Annual Catalog, I stamped the birds on a branch on Whisper White using Memento ink and colored in with Balmy Blue, Soft Suede, Mint Macaron, and Rococo Rose Blends. When I cut out the image with the Nested die I realized it was going to cover up a lot of my hard work. So, I cut out the next smallest size of the Nested dies right out of the middle of the paper. Card number two just became a thing.

I layered the colored paper onto the card base with snail. The birds were added with Dimensionals. The sentiment is from the same set. Then I added a few pink gems left over from last years catalog. Don’t forget you can also use Blends to color your rhinestones and make your own matching embellishments.

Second Card – Happy Birthday

For the next card, I embossed a 5.25 x 4″ piece of Whisper White with the Lace embossing folder. I layered that onto the Rococo Rose base. I added a Whisper White twine bow and adhered the duo with Dimensionals.

Next, I added a banner and sentiment, stamped in Rococo Rose, from the Sentimental Rose Paper Pumpkin. I felt like it still needed something and I could have used the same Paper Pumpkin stamp and leaves, but I didn’t feel like fussy cutting, so I got out my Painted Seasons stamps and matching dies to add a Rococo Rose flower and Mint Macaron leaves.

Simple, gorgeous and I got to play with the new In-Color in all its varieties. Also, I have three more stamped panels of flowers. Expect to see more cards from this experimental effort. I hope you’re playing with your craft stash and making beautiful cards to share with your loved ones.

Two Rosy Thank Yous

Everything is Rosy kit is packed with gorgeous papers. It’s so simple to make a gorgeous card adding nothing but Whisper White card stock and an envelope. I have two examples that do just that. Both cards start with a 4-1/8″x 5-3/8″ piece of the Rose Gold foil as the first layer. Before I added the layer to the card base, I die cut the leaf sprays from the center to conserve paper. No one will ever know there is a piece or two missing from your layer. The next layers are DSP from the kit cut to 4″x 5-1/4″.

Night of Navy Card

For the first card, I adhered the leafy sprays starting in the lower left corner using liquid glue. Next, I layered a scrap of the rose gold foil over the part where the sprays joined. I added a piece of the navy ribbon on top of that.

Then, I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy on one of the foil edged labels. Dimensional lift the sentiment slightly to add interest. The flowers came from a different piece of the DSP cut using one of the dies. They’re also adhered with Dimensionals.

Finally, because I can’t finish a card without a last embellishment, I painted three basic pearls with the Rose Gold shimmer paint that came in the kit. I let them dry for a bout fifteen minutes before I added them to the card. I’m thrilled that I can make customized pearls this way.

Melon Mambo Card

The second card uses a scrap of the DSP turned over to the “plain” side – no foil on top of the foil leafy sprays. Over the DSP strip, I added a piece of the ruched Melon Mambo ribbon.

Again, thank you is stamped in Night of Navy. The preprinted flowers are from the kit. I added three painted pearls to this card as well. Two gorgeous cards that are fast to make and don’t need a huge craft stash to make them.

Delightfully Simple Cards

These two cards use the Delightfully Detailed Memories and More Card Pack in the Annual Catalog. Paired with the Memories and More Cards and Envelopes, you can have two beautiful cards ready to use in minutes.

The large card uses three cards from the pack. The smoky background is a large card that I adhered to the card base. Then I added the small marbled pattern card at an angle. I cut a 1/4″ from each side of the black starry card because I wanted to see more of the card underneath.

The sentiment is a sticker from the set on a left over Paper Pumpkin banner. I popped it on with Dimensionals for added interest. You can stamp a second sentiment inside or leave it blank for a longer note. Simple and dramatic.

The next card uses the Small card base and three cards from the pack. Again, I started with the smoky background. Next, I cut a strip from the second card 1-1/2″ wide and then used the Triple Banner Punch to fishtail both ends. I finished the card by punching the sentiment from the third card using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch. That layer uses Dimensionals. It’s a small card so I left it blank inside for a handwritten note. Pretty and easy!
