Rainbows and Daisies Scrap-tastic Card

Hand crafted greeting card using scrap pieces to create a rainbow background for punched daisy clusters.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, celebrating the holiday with family or enjoying the weather.

I have a quick card design that encourages you to use what you have. The card starts with a base of Magenta Madness. The background uses a piece of Basic White card stock cut to 6″x6″ with one adhesive sheet layered on top. The reason I went with 6″x6″ is that is the size of the adhesive and so I have some spare pieces for other cards in the future.

To create the rainbow, I used my saved strips from trimming card stock to the correct size. My scrap strips vary in width. If you like a more symmetrical style, you could limit it to only 1/4″ or 1/2″ strips. I also layered mine on the diagonal for more interest. This means you need some longer strips. But really you can layer them on however you like, even in a brick layout with staggered seams. This technique is really flexible.

After you have the rainbow created, cut the size you prefer— 4″x5-1/4″ or as I did 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″. For the daisies, I used the medium daisy punch with basic white card stock. I added some faceted crystal embellishment from my stash for the centers. The retired sentiment is stamped in Magenta Madness and I used the Banners Pick a Punch to create that nice arrow effect.

I’m sending happy thoughts your way. Happy crafting!
