Time has snuck away from me again and I have been slacking on my posts here. I’ve been crafting up a storm making cards for The100DayProject on Instagram. It’s been a lot of fun but between that and some other life, I got distracted from sharing here. I’m going to fix that over the next few days! Or at least I hope I will. This brings me to the February Paper Pumpkin. I kind of fell in love with this kit. The colors, the embellishments – it’s just gorgeous. These are the cards as designed, but of course, I have some alternates.
Fun Fold Birthday

This card uses a half sheet of Just Jade paper as the base. Cut down the length at 4-1/4″ and score the long side at 5-1/2″. Then from one end cut 3″ off. This gives you a 4-1/4″x3″ piece that you’re going to adhere to the remaining short flap in a horizontal direction. But not yet. First, you’re going to add DSP. I used Flower and Field from the recent Saleabration. I cut one piece 4″x 5-1/4″, that goes on the inside of the card so that it faces the short panel. Then I cut a piece 2-1/4″x4″ That goes along the short flap. I used the base of one of the cards in the kit to decorate my “floating” panel. This is cut 4″x2-3/4″. Cut the same size piece of white card for inside the card, it’s hiding behind the floating panel. When you glue your floating panel to the short flap, be careful to only add adhesive to the part of the panel that will overlap the flap, otherwise, you’ll glue your card shut and that’s not near as much fun.
Gatefold Fun Fold

We’ve done gate folds before, this one starts with a base of Merry Merlot. Score the ends of your half sheet of paper so that you end up with two panels that are 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″. You’ll need a piece of white card cut 4″x5-1/4″ for the inside of the card. For the two panels, I used one of the bases in the kit and cut the panels 2″x5-3/8″
Next, I used one of the doilies in the kit and cut it more or less in half. They’re irregular, so it’s not going to be perfect. I adhered them over the panels, but I added a length of the linen thread to each side tucked under the doily halves. Why? Well, my big complaint with gatefold cards is that they don’t stay shut. I could make a belly band, but I wanted to try something new. This card actually ties closed.
Lastly, I used a sentiment from the Touch of Ink Saleabration set and added a flower from the kit.
Bonus cards

And here are three more cards that I created with the set recently. I left my messy desk in the picture because crafting, like life, is sometimes messy and that’s okay. I hope you get some time, I hope you give yourself permission to run a little late, get a little messy, and make something beautiful you can share with the world.
Happy crafting.
