A Little Bit On My Mind

Sorry, this post has been so late in coming. I’ve had a little bit on my mind lately. But I have a couple of great alternatives I meant to share with you sooner for the July Paper Pumpkin, On My Mind. First, let me show you the cards this kit makes without any alternatives.

This card coordinates with the Woven Heirlooms suite. The visual textures used with the pre-punched pieces make this card suitable for a masculine card. A quick change of sentiment and you’d have a great birthday card. I adore the tiny paper clip that is holding the twine bow in place.

The second card is also perfect for a masculine birthday card. The stripes and nautical theme are hanging on to the last pieces of summer. This card coordinates with the Sailing Home bundle in the Annual catalog.

The last card made as instructed coordinates with the Garden Lane suite. I like the “chicken skin” texture of the card base. The pre-punched leaf pieces in Old Olive and Mossy Meadow add the perfect garden touch to the trellis patterned paper. You can see that making the kit as is would give you beautiful results. But as always, I have some alternates for you.

On My Mind Alternates

The first alternate uses the Garden Lane suite stamp set, Verdant Garden. The vine stamp enhanced the background of the card. I used Mossy Meadow ink to make sure the image stood out against the Sahara Sand background. The Old Olive trellis paper is from the kit. The sentiment is from a previous Paper Pumpkin. Simple. Easy. Gorgeous.

Lastly, I have a Christmas card for you. I love getting prepared for Christmas early. That way I can enjoy the holiday. By making a card or gift bag ahead of time each month I find I can relax and enjoy any crafting I “need” to do in December. This card uses some Pretty Peacock velvet ribbon that came in a previous Paper Pumpkin kit as well as some gold foil tape from a retired catalog kit. Scrap strips of gold foil paper would be an excellent alternative. The medallion is stamped in Cherry Cobbler. The Season’s Greetings stamp was also from a previous Paper Pumpkin, but any holiday greeting would work. I did add a banner of DSP from the Garden Lane suite DSP. The final touch is a Gold Faceted Gem in the center of the medallion.

I hope you’re enjoying your Paper Pumpkin kits. If you don’t subscribe, now is a perfect time. All your holiday crafting will be coming in the next three boxes.
