Two Happy Christmas in July Cards

The latest Paper Pumpkin, A Little Smile has a fun beach theme perfect for summer. But, I love to see if I can come up Christmas cards and start filling in my stash for December. There were so many pre-punched pieces it was almost too easy. So, I came up with two for you.

Christmas on the Beach

The first card uses the leafy pieces, flipped over from their Old Olive color. I started with a Whisper White base. I added a layer of Coastal Cabana that I stamped using the Hugs from Shelli background stamp with Frost White shimmer paint to make it look like it’s snowing. Then I created a sandy beach using a ripped piece of Crumb Cake stamped with a stamp from the kit in Crumb Cake. I also sponged the edges.

Next, I built the tree. I started with the layer on the “beach” with five leaves, then a layer of four, then three and so on. Once I had that base layer, I filled in with a few extra leaves. I used one of the glitter starfish as the star topper. I finished the tree with some gold pearls.

Finally, for the sentiment, I got out an old set of Paper Pumpkin holiday stamps and used Old Olive ink. The banner was from the kit as well as the sand dollar.

Lovely Bauble

My second card uses some Lovely Lipstick foil paper I had left in my stash. This would be an equally gorgeous card done with Gold foil and red berries. Here’s how I made it. I started with a base of Whisper White and an additional strip 5-1/2″ by 2-1/2″. I punched a 2″ circle in the center. Then I glued on one of the lacy medallions from the kit.

Beneath the strip is a 2-3/8″ square piece of foil. The bauble “hook” was made by die cutting a Beautiful Bauble die from Champagne foil and cutting out the hanger. I saved the rest for another card I’ll post soon. The strip is mounted to the card with Dimensionals. I added leafy cuts and enamel dots colored with Stampin Blends to make the holly sprays.

Next, I used the Flourish dies to cut out the trim piece. I cut it down the center and added the two halves under the edges of the Whisper White panel. Lastly, I used an old holiday Paper Pumpkin stamp for the sentiment. I heat embossed it using the retired Lovely Lipstick embossing powder. It can also just be stamped with Lovely Lipstick ink.

I hope you’re having fun with your Paper Pumpkin subscription.
