Darling Scraps

If you read this blog with any regularity, you know I love to use up my scraps. Some scraps are more special than others. Okay, I’ll wait for you to stop laughing. Seriously, I had a piece of Whisper White that I’d embossed with that amazing Tin Tile embossing folder. I didn’t use the entire piece. And then I was playing with the Rose Gold shimmer paint that came in the Everything is Rosy kit and I had some left on my sponge dauber. So I swiped it across my scrap. It wasn’t quite enough to cover, so I added Copper shimmer paint, because, why not? That metallic painted embossed scrap stared at me for weeks. So, finally I made a card.

The Scrappy Card

I wanted a rustic look for the card and to feature my shiny scrap. Starting with a Crumb Cake base, I used the All Wired Up background stamp in Basic Gray to add visual interest. I had a piece of Wood Texture paper left in my scrap box and the Old Olive stripe DSP (from a Christmas pack). The Old Olive and wood tone contrast well with the copper, rose tones in my scrap.

For a sentiment, I wanted something that was interesting but wouldn’t cover too much of my tile. So, I used one of the Darling Label stamps and punched it out with the matching punch. I colored in the image with Old Olive and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends.

The sentiment was a bit lonely on its own so I added a piece of Burlap Ribbon and then tucked in some corrugated punched leaves. Then I added a couple of vellum pieces leftover from a Paper Pumpkin kit. The sequins are from a different kit and added a perfect final touch.
