Sentimental Rose Paper Pumpkin Alternates

The April 2019 Sentimental Rose Paper Pumpkin kit includes two Distinktive stamps that provide realistic images of a rose and leaf spray. The kit also has an array of useful sentiments and enough materials to make nine gorgeous notecards.

Sample of the Designs

These are the three cards the kit makes if you use it as designed following the instructions. The Gray Granite ink in the kit gives the cards an aged or vintage feel. I loved the background papers that were pre-watercolored as well as the corrugated pieces that add such a unique texture. I could have made all nine cards exactly like this and been completely satisfied with the results. But, I love to share ideas so using the remaining six cards worth of materials (plus the extras that Stampin’ Up! always includes).

Simple Alternates

This alternate uses Mint Macaron ink for the leaves and Flirty Flamingo ink for the sentiment. The bow is Flirty Flamingo ribbon that I had in my stash. The instructions included with the kit list the coordinating colors. I like to see what I have on hand that matches and use of my stash.

The second simple alternate also uses Mint Macaron ink for the leaves with second generation stamping (stamp off on scrap paper then stamp the card). The rose is So Saffron. I made sure to stamp it over the pink part of the background to make it look like a Peace Rose. I also used Linen Thread instead of the twine in the kit.

For the last simple alternate, I cut one of the notecards in two using my trimmer. Then I trimmed another half inch from each side of the plain part of the card. The small white piece is stamped with the leaves in a variety of directions. Using my watercolor pencils, I filled in the leaves with Garden Green. I layered the two pieces together and added Linen Thread. The entire thing is mounted on a base of Gray Granite cardstock. The sentiment is stamped on the back of one of the banners in the kit in Mint Macaron. I like the gender neutral style of this card.

DSP Alternates

Patterned paper, for some of us its a weakness. I have packs of gorgeous paper, some unopened. I do my best to cut the paper I love and use it in my projects. Paper Pumpkins always inspire me to use my DSP (Designer Series Paper). For this first card, I layered paper with a wood grain texture. I also added Linen Thread and gems from the February 2019 Paper Pumpkin. The card is still notecard sized (3.5″x5″) but I made my own base from Whisper White cardstock.

This card is full sized. I used So Saffron as my base and also a layer of So Saffron DSP. This paper is done by color collection, and this is from the Subtles pack. The sentiment is from the September 2017 Paper Pumpkin. It fit perfectly in a vertical orientation. I meant to put the corrugated banner underneath, but I forgot. Bummer. The rose is second generation Flirty Flamingo and the Leaves are also second generation in Mint Macaron. I like how feminine this card is.

Memories and More Cards

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before how economical the Memories and More packs are. You get tons of cards in two sizes, sometimes laser cut papers, stickers, and other great pieces that are perfect for pocket scrapbooking but also for making interesting cards. The pack I used for these cards is retired, but the color worked and they had a garden theme.
