Playing with Past Paper Pumpkins

The Paper Pumpkin celebrated its sixth birthday in March. That’s seventy-two boxes of creative inspiration if you subscribed from the start. I’ve only been a member for a few years, but I was gifted with several retired boxes. Woo Hoo. It was like winning the craft stash lottery. I know there are many people who have past boxes. Every so often, I’ll pull one out and see what I can do with it. This time I’m playing with the July 2014 kit, Wish Big.

The first surprise was that the kit used Blackberry Bliss. This color was brought back last year. Perfect timing! The kit came with cards and gift boxes. I had scavenged the boxes months ago. But here are the cards I came up with using the stamps and the card materials from the kit.

Wish Cards

This card is closest to the original design in the kit. The wish letters and big star were stickers in the kit along with the gray and white strip. The box came with a ton of silver stars. I added a few more with a stamp in the kit using Blackberry Bliss ink. The Make A sentiment was also in the kit.

This card is similar, just more. I added a layer of Frosted Floral DSP and more silver stars. The tag is a leftover from a more recent kit.

Thanks Cards

Going with the star theme, I used a piece of Bubbles and Fizz DSP. I was using all my retired product for these cards. But that is the cool thing about Stampin’ Up! products, they are timeless and work together beautifully even five years later. The Thanks sentiment was a stamp in the kit.

I liked the Thanks sentiment so much, I got out my Stamparatus and let it rip. The hearts were stickers in the kit. I added the white and silver twine bow. The Stamparatus makes repetitive stamping so easy. A simple one layer card that has a huge visual impact. Those fun folk art style hearts inspired my next card.

The last two projects use the round tags that came in the kit. I like cards that use tags on the front. I don’t make enough of these for as much as I like the look. I used a piece of Wood Texture DSP to play up the rustic style of the hearts. The sentiment is from Labels to Love. The twine is from a previous Paper Pumpkin kit. This would be a cute card for a summer beach wedding.

The final project I have is a simple tag. For You was in the kit along with more of those awesome silver stars.

So if you have a stash of unopened or incomplete Paper Pumpkins, pull one out – the fun doesn’t expire. Happy crafting.
