Butterflies are a beautiful reminder of the possibilities we have for transformation. I am always enthralled when I see them playing in my garden. One of my best memories of California was driving through the Tracy pass during an explosion of butterflies. I channeled that memory as inspiration for this card using the Beauty Abounds suite from the Occasions catalog.
Layering Die Cuts

The die set in the suite, Butterfly Beauty Thinlits has two large dies that work together perfectly. I cut the base layer from Mango Melody and the top, more delicate. layer from Basic Black. I used Tombow liquid glue to adhere to the two together. The liquid glue give a little bit of time to fuss with the alignment of the two layers.
The card base is Pear Pizzaz. It reminded me of the green hills and the color contrasts nicely with the orange tones of the Mango Melody. The DSP layer is from the Sale-a-Bration. I am enjoying this paper immensely. I busyness of the butterflies and flowers give a sense of just how overwhelming all of those butterflies in one place was.
Next, I stamped the sentiment on a leftover pre-punched element from the Soft Sayings kit I posted about yesterday. It was a little big for the sentiment stamp, so I used the Bokay dots and more Mango Melody ink along with the butterfly image to fill in the white space and make the sentiment stand out.
For a final touch, I added a small strip of Whisper White Flax ribbon and a few gems from my stash. ( I think they were from the Christmas catalog.) It was fun recreating a memory in the form of a card. Hope you’re doing something creative this weekend.
