Magical Baby Shower Invitation – TBT

I’m always honored when I’m asked to do a card for someone. In this case, it was a Mermaid themed baby shower invitation. Thankfully, my friend was able to loan me the retired Magical Day stamp set. I thought it was super cute when it came out, but I didn’t have any kiddos in my life at the time. All that is about to change. This invitation was a work of love for my son’s partner who is due to have my granddaughter soon. I can’t wait!

The card is on a base of Coastal Cabana. I used Shimmer paper with a variety of inks including Daffodil Delight and Soft Sea Foam to create that background. You just dab on the color using a baby wipe. I use a different wipe for each color so it doesn’t get muddy. Once the background was done and dried for about 3-4 hours, I splattered Gold Shimmer paint over the background, just a hint, not too much. Finally, I used an old stencil and some of the Shimmery White embossing paste with one drop of Call Me Clover ink to make the seaweed strands. Whew, background done.

The Celebrate is actually two layers, one in Gorgeous Grape and one in Gold foil. I cut the mini-dimensionals in half and adhered that to the bottom of the card. The mermaid medallion uses three stamps from the Magical Day set. Then I colored in the images with Stampin’ Blends. On the mermaid’s body, I added Champagne shimmer paint. I used the Stitched Shape and Layering Circles dies to complete the medallion.
