Happiness Surrounds

It’s time for another Snowflake Showcase card. This time, I’m using the sister stamp set, Happiness Surrounds that pairs with the Snowfall dies.  As I was making this card, phrases such as “gilding the lily” and “less is more” came to mind, because we all have an internal critic and for whatever reason, mine is hanging on to the megaphone with both hands.  I decided to not only go with my original design, I decided that more really is more. And that I like gilding lilies.  I can appreciate and often aspire to a clean and simple look. But sometimes, I just want all the sparkle, all the layers, and all the textures.  I want to be “surrounded by happiness”.

Happiness Surrounds with Vegas gold shimmerSo, that’s what where this card came from.  I started with a base of Thick Very Vanilla.  It compliments the warm gold tones and is strong enough to support the many layers of die cuts. The bottom layer is Blackberry Bliss cardstock embossed with the Tin Tile dynamic embossing folder.  I used a bit of Vegas Gold Shimmer paint to highlight the pattern of the embossing.

For the band across the middle, I used a 1″x 4″ strip of Regals DSP in Blackberry Bliss with a 1/2″ strip of gold foil paper. Over that, I layered the Very Vanilla Polka Dot Tulle ribbon.

Next, I started stamping and die-cutting.  The leaf base for the flowers used four of the dies in the Snowfall set along with two of the stamps. I stamped with Mint Macaron on the same color cardstock. The Berry Burst layer is stamped with the striped six-petal flower image, then die cut. Over that I layered Grapefruit Grove cut with one of the dies. On top of that, I added a Blackberry Bliss flower stamped in Blackberry Bliss and die-cut. Then, because “why not?” I added a gold foil die cut.

I used Tombow Mono Liquid Glue to put all those flower layers together and created the floral spray on the card using Tombow, glue dots and for the center flower, Dimentionals.

Next, I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched it out with a 1-1/4″ circle punch.  I used the 1-3/8″ Scallop punch to cut the gold foil layer and then a final Blackberry Bliss layer with the 1-1/2″ Circle punch. That is mounted to the card with Dimensionals.  I thought I was done with the card, but then I added one last embellishment, Gold Metallic Pearls to the center of each flower.

This is a more advanced card, but I like that it showcases the different styles that can be achieved with Stampin’ Up! products. The only limitation is your imagination. Go for it!
