Today I’m crafting for a Just Add Ink color challenge. This site is based in Australia where the weather is starting to turn warm and they’re readying for Spring. It’s so fun to think about how our seasons are opposite. I’m considering my Fall wardrobe, and how cold it might be this winter. They’re looking for signs of new growth and anticipating garden blossoms.
The colors for this challenge are definitely perfect for spring.
I hadn’t had a lot of time to play with my Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and matching Bouquet Bunch framelits. This was a great opportunity to put them to use. I was inspired by a card from Mary Hanson of Up North Stampin. You can see her card here.
For my card, I used the Shimmer Embossing paste with a couple of drops of Pool Party reinker. The butterfly was cut from Pool Party cardstock using the Springtime Impressions thinlets. I added some Wink of Stella to give it some shine to match the Shimmer paste. Note – be careful when opening a new Wink of Stella wand, it really gushes on the first use!
The flowers were cut and stamped from Calypso Coral. I used Dimensionals to lift the stamped flowers. The leaves were also die cut with the Bouquet Bunch framelits. I really like how the Lemon Lime Twist give a crisp brightness to the design.
The sentiment is a combination of words from the Beautiful Bouquet set and the frame from Label Me Pretty punched out with the Pretty Label punch. I added a small strip of burlap to contrast with all the shiny elements. I also added the one Crystal Gem to the butterfly just like Mary did. I hope all our friends in Australia have a flower-filled Spring.
Colleen, what a beautiful card! I love everything about it. I am honored that you mentioned me!
Mary, that’s exactly how I felt about your card! Thanks for sharing.
This is so pretty Colleen! I love how the Lemon leaves really ground your image and make the flowers pop! And I’m sure your lovely butterfly and background’s sparkle is gorgeous in real life too! Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week.
Thank you Jan!
I really like this 3D collage effect – all the elements go well together and I really like the stencil work as a base. A very pretty card.. Chantell Just Add Ink
