Card sketches are useful for getting past the blank page jitters that block our creativity. I have a Pinterest board where I keep a file of interesting sketches. Today, I have a card made from a one provided by Freshly Made Sketches. It isn’t quite as “CASE-y” as my usual CASEs, but I am copying their layout.
They provide a new layout each week. This week, I used some scraps that I had. It seems like my collection of scraps is overwhelming my craft room. So you might see a lot of “scrap cards” coming in future posts. You know how I hate to throw anything away.
Here is my card.
I used a card base from a recent Sale-a-Bration because I didn’t like the papers on a white background. The Soft Saffron blends well with the Daffodil Delight and the Night of Navy colors. The Wood Textures DSP along with the scrap of retired Delightful Daisy DSP gives the card a sweet rustic country vibe.
I stamped the flower using the Daisy Delight stamp set that is available in the current catalog. The Thank You sentiment is in the same set. Night of Navy ink makes this large sentiment stand out even more and coordinates with the background in the DSP. Finally, I added a retired White Perfect Accent because I wanted to mimic the daisies in the background, but reverse the color.
You could also make the flower stamping the Daffodil Delight on Whisper White and use a Clear Faceted gem instead. Stamping two images and gluing them together and also using a bone folder to curl the petals give the flower more dimension.
So happy that I played along with the Freshly Made Sketch this week. Happy crafting.
