Lemon Zest – CASE of the Mondays

Today is Memorial Day in the United States.  It’s a day to honor all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  They gave their lives so that we could live ours by the ideals that define this country.  I’m very appreciative of my freedoms and thankful to all those who serve.

This is a hard day to acknowledge appropriately.  “Happy Memorial Day.” just doesn’t quite capture the solemnity of the occasion.  I think those that have died if they could speak, would remind us to live with purpose and passion. Live with gratitude and generosity.  In that vein, I’m sharing a card that reminds us Life is Short, Live it with Zest.

This card is one of the most repinned cards I have on my Pinterest boards.  It was created by Lavinia Gruizinga.  I haven’t been able to find instructions for her card or a website that I can link to, so I decided to recreate the card and provide measurements and instructions. The major difference between her card and mine is that I used the new In Colors – Call Me Clover, Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch.

Here is the card:

Lemon Zest Card Stampin Up

Supplies:

Ink: Call Me Clover, Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch.

Five pieces of Whisper White cardstock: 2 pieces cut at  4″x5-1/4″,   one of each cut at 4″x4-1/4″, 2-1/4″x4″ and 1-1/4″ by 3″. Plus an additional scrap piece for stamping the lemons and leaves.

Call Me Closer cardstock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″

Three pieces of Lovely Lipstick cardstock: 2 pieces cut at 4″x1/2″ and one cut at 2-1/2″ x 4″.

Punches: Lemon Builder, Triple Banner, and Decorative Ribbon Border

Bone folder, adhesives, rhinestones and/or Glitter Enamel Dots.

This card goes together quite easily once you have all the pieces.  I fussy cut a lemon slice in half and used the bone folder to curl the banner before adhering to the card with a strip of snail at the top and two glue dots on the tails of the banner.
