Whip it up Wednesday – An EPIC upgrade

This is the first Whip it up Wednesday post.  I’ll take a card and add a little something or rearrange the elements to make the design stand out a little more.  There is nothing wrong with the cards I’m using for inspiration.  I’m just adding a little more spice to the mix.  See what you think.

Today’s inspiration comes from a Facebook swap. The theme was Children’s Birthday.

Here is the cute card I received.

Epic Celebration Swap

I love the use of the dot stamp in Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist and Peekaboo Peach to create a custom designer paper.  The sentiment is the feature on this card. My swapping buddy used the Tailored Tag Punch and then popped it up on Dimensionals after sponging the sides in the same four colors. Finally, she used some of the Tutti-frutti sequins to embellish the card.

I wanted to use a different card base, so I cut a half sheet of Thick Whisper White. I used a layer of Bermuda Bay to echo Epic Celebration - Whipped upthe blue color in the stamped background.  These two elements replaced the Pool Party base.

Next, I copied the multi-color stamping on a piece of regular Whisper White card stock.  It was such a great idea, there was no need to change it up. I did add some physical texture to this layer with my Scoreboard.  I added score lines every quarter inch or so. It’s subtle but, it helped me with the next element I added.

I wanted a bit more something to draw the eye to the sentiment. So I took two scraps of Lemon Lime Twist and ran them vertically down the center of the card.  I also punched a second tag from Bermuda Bay, cut it in half and mounted it behind a copy of the sentiment used on the source card.

Finally, I moved my embellishments around the sentiment to draw the eye to the focal point of the card.

Here are the cards side by side.
