My First Tic Tac Toe Challenge

“…the prospect of endless possibilities isn’t freeing, it’s paralyzing.” – Lisa Cron, Story Genius

Challenges are an awesome way to spark creativity.  I decided to try the Tic Tac Toe Challenge 39.  My first response when I considered the nine-item grid was “No way!”  I couldn’t think of anything that would work with this week’s selection.

I set it aside.  Later, after several deep breaths, I pulled out my image inventory.  Yes, I stamp every stamp I have and store the images in one binder, and the sentiments in another, organized by category.  But, that’s another post.  I came across the Cake Soriee set in the 2018 Occasions catalog and inspiration struck.  All that creative energy started flowing.

For this card, I used the line down the middle: Frame, Any Type of Accent, Sweets

Cake Soiree Stampin Up! Tic Tac Toe Challenge.

The card base is Powder Pink.  I stamped the Whisper White layer, also with Powder Pink using one of the ‘scribble’ flowers. Then I added a spot of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to each one.  For the frame, I used Silver foil paper, die cut with the Layering Squares dies.  I placed a piece of the Sweet Soiree DSP in the frame.

The sweet cake was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  Using markers in colors from the DSP I carefully inked in the floral image.  To add a little frosting, I used Shimmery White embossing paste and the Sweet Soiree decorative masks.  I die cut the cake. The ribbon was cut from Myths & Magic glimmer paper – it took on a pinkish hue which I loved! That was added to the card with Dimensionals.

Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment from the We Must Celebrate stamp set and added that to the card with Dimensionals. The card needed just a bit more, because “more is more”. So I popped on some of the Glitter Enamel Dots.

I’m very happy with the results. It’s even prettier in person. Most of all, I’m thankful, because this is a card I might not have imagined if it hadn’t been for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge.
